The challenge

What needed to be understood.

The dashboard needed to combine several analytical views without overwhelming the user, while still supporting interactive exploration and navigation.

Approach

How the analysis was built.

  1. Created headline KPI views for executive orientation.
  2. Built a geographic map, time trend, category bar chart, and highlight table.
  3. Added parameters and interactive controls to change the analysis.
  4. Used a navigation image/button to improve movement through the workbook.

  • The dashboard structure allowed users to begin with summary performance and drill into where and when results differed.
  • Combining map, trend, category, and matrix views exposed several dimensions of performance without requiring separate reports.
  • Interactive controls improved self-service analysis compared with a static slide.
